A Way of Seeing

John Berger explains in ‘Ways of Seeing’ that where
and when we’re seeing something affects what we
see. A Way of Seeing is an artistic research project
into the context of the art visit. How did a visitor
end up here, how does someone leave? Unplanned,
I accompany a spectator on an art visit. We speak
each other before and after we’ve seen the artwork.
This experience results in a text. I will write about
the context of the visit, not about the work itself.
These visits together, at different locations and
of different work, become a collection of ways of
and put together an image that reflects the
way we see art.

The first A Way of Seeing was created at the
TheaterFestival in Brussels.

* The texts are written in Dutch.
